Did you know that in much of Africa:
- Kids are required by law to have a uniform to go to school.
- Kids are required by law to have shoes to go to school.
- Kids can be caned for misbehaving.
- Kids can be caned for arriving late.
- If parents can't pay school fees, kids can't go.
- There are sometimes 50-75 kids in a class.
- Sometimes teachers just fail to show up at school.
- Teachers and kids have few books, or none at all.
- Class time is wasted performing household chores for the teacher.
- Fewer than 10% continue on to secondary school.
- Some communities have no schools.
